Welcome

Here you will find projects that blend multimedia storytelling across various digital platforms, woven into meaningful and reflective narratives— that feature stories rooted in arts, culture, science and the human experience.

Journalist

As a journalist, I’m drawn to stories that explore the relationships between art, culture, science, and community, examining how knowledge and creativity inform one another.Through my work with the Calgary Journal, I’ve explored how storytelling can translate research, emotion, and lived experience into accessible narratives. In my Calgary Journal archives is a link to my published articles.

Audio Production

ROOTS explores the 2024 Sustainability Forum at Mount Royal University, where journalism students spoke with event organizers, speakers, and attendees about integrating sustainability across disciplines. With support from the Community Podcast Initiative,  co-hosted and produced my segment, featuring an interview with the Vice-Dean of Business and Communication Studies on sustainability at MRU.

Video Production

Over the past few years, I’ve developed a strong skill set in producing short-form video stories for social media—translating research and reporting into engaging visual narratives. I’ve learned to write concise, impactful scripts and edit for rhythm, sound, and caption design to make information accessible to diverse audiences.

Graphic Design

In fall 2024, I discovered my love for design theory through my Digital Visualization course. Weekly design labs became a space for thoughtful experimentation and greater  understanding of typography, composition, colour and balance, as a language shaped by effective and nuanced storytelling.

About Me

Hi—I'm Mimi, a Journalism and Digital Media student at Mount Royal University and reporter at the Calgary Journal. My work is coalesced with my interests in communication and design theory, media literacy, arts, culture and society.

Though, naturally quiet—I am endlessly curious about the seen and unseen connections that define our realities. The mysteries of our universe, the evolution of music, nature, language, epistemology—  the people and patterns that shape humanity.
